With enduring hope in the promise of eternal life, the Caspar family announces the passing of Alice Caspar on March 18, 2025, at the age of 89 years.
Alice was born March 6, 1936, in New Kiew, Alberta to William and Annie Sawchuk, the youngest of 4 children.
After completing her training as a Nursing Assistant, she began work at the Fairview Hospital and enjoyed the job as much as the antics and friendship of her co-workers until her retirement in 1997. It was in Fairview that Alice met Otto Caspar. They were married on July 2, 1960, and raised 6 children: Brenda, Douglas (Carmen), Michelle (Edgar), Gregory (Carol), Gordon (Bonnie) and Patricia (Shaun). Alice was also blessed with 8 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren.
For Alice, hospitality came first. Her numerous trays of baked goods could be found at every occasion for her many loved ones to enjoy. Her generous spirit further extended to spending countless hours volunteering in her church community. Alice held her Catholic faith in utmost importance throughout her life. Despite the tragic passing of her beloved Ots in 1990, she remained faithful and courageous.
In retirement, Alice kept herself busy spending time travelling, bowling, golfing, gardening, canning, cutting the grass, playing cards, spoiling her grandchildren, and going “up town” for coffee with her friends. She will be missed by many.
Prayers will be held on Thursday, April 3, 2025, at 7:00 pm, at St. Thomas More Church in Fairview, Alberta.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, April 4, 2025, at St. Thomas More Church in Fairview, Alberta.
Interment to follow at Friedenstal Cemetery. Following the interment, family and friends are invited to join Alice’s family for lunch and fellowship at St. Thomas More Church Hall.
The family would like to thank the staff at Fairview Continuing Care for their support and compassion during her care.
In lieu of flowers please consider donating to either St. Thomas More Church Maintenance Fund or the Resident and Family Council at Fairview Continuing Care.
