Carol Kaip of Fairview, Alberta passed away at the Fairview Continuing Care Centre on June 1, 2026, at the age of 90 years.
Carol was born November 6, 1935 to Bill and Jean Makofka of the Ranger District, near Hines Creek, Alberta. Carol worked over 40 years in Fairview, most of which was with the Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory. She thoroughly enjoyed the position there as each day brought new knowledge. With her love of animals, this was a perfect fit.
Carol was also a long time Dog Groomer and helped quite a few ladies learn the trade. She retired from grooming in September 2005, only to continue to fill in as required.
Carol bred Rough Collie dogs for a few years and got bit by the dog show “bug”. This brought about travel to various Canadian Show points and a few National Specialties in the U.S.A. This phase of her life Carol was so happy to be apart of. Many friendships were gleaned and remained.
Carol was predeceased by her father Bill Makofka on November 29, 1976, her brother Willie Makofka on November 17, 1994, her mother Jean Makofka on July 19, 1995 and her husband Joe on June 8, 2006.
Carol leaves numerous cousins, special friends and acquaintances. Thank you to the wonderful care the staff provided at the Fairview Hospital & Continuing Care Centre during her short stay with them.
A Graveside Service will take place at the Waterhole Cemetery on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at 11:30 AM.
Care entrusted to Peace Valley Funeral Home of Fairview 780-835-3306, www.peacevalleyfuneral.ca.
