Charles Ramsey Obituary

Charles “CW” “Charlie” William Ramsey was a caring spouse, father, son, brother, and friend. He left this world suddenly on June 4th 2022 at the age of 42 years old in Grande Prairie.

He was the second born son to Charles “Bobby” Ramsey and Shelley Warner in Fairview hospital March 28th 1980, 7lb 11oz “Life was good, a family and a home” as his mom quoted.

Unfortunately two years later Shelley and Bobby split, but that created a significant and special lifelong bond between Charles, Robbie and Shelley (Mom).

In 1988 Charles graciously welcomed a new sister Amanda and followed by three more, Stephanie, Katherine and Breanna. He was well known to his siblings for his gloating mischievous smile and when it was his turn to watch “the girls” he always made the best spaghetti.

It was said that as soon are Charles could walk he found a love for the outdoors and spent many of his younger years fishing, camping, quadding and hunting. As he got older he found an outlet and love for mechanics. He could always be found tinkering on second hand junkers and salvaging different parts of dirt bikes and quads - limping all of the pieces together to make it run. Robbie would often laugh and shake his head watching Charles work on his “wreckers”.

Charles left high school in grade 10 to follow in his dads footsteps to work on the rigs and spent many years chasing them. He later upgraded to receive his high school equivalent and acquire his first year of heavy duty mechanics. He transferred into oilfield operating in 2010 and was very excited to fly in and out of many different locations.

He welcomed his first son on March 5th, 2000, Joshua Charles Logan Ramsey – a proud new dad. Tristin James William Ramsey came along just two short years later on Oct 4th, 2002. On February 19th 2007 Charles was blessed with a third son Casin William Wayne Ramsey. He was very proud to have three sons to take camping, fishing, quadding and snowmobiling over the years and you could always find Charles outside with his boys whenever he was with them. Josh was his boy that took on Charles softer qualities, Tristin his love for tinkering and need for speed, although sometimes Tristin would say that dad went to fast. Casin, the love for outdoors and son that would wake up early with him before work to eat chocolate ice cream and smarties - Charles would rarely be seen eating a vegetable, as hard as his mother tried and he quite humorously past that trait onto his boys.

In 2015 Charles met Shauna and the two quickly became inseparable and spent the last seven years together in Grande Prairie. They enjoyed fishing and camping trips and visiting with the boys. Saturday night movie nights became a staple in their home and they made many wonderful memories together over the years.

Charles will be lovingly remembered by his spouse, Shauna; children Joshua, Tristin, Casin; brother Robbie (Alberta); sisters Amanda (Steve), Stephanie (Tim), Katherine (Andrew), Breanna (Denziel), as well as many nieces and nephews. He will also be dearly missed by his Grandma Marion Ramsey; Aunties Deborah (Jeff), Teresa (Bob and Sarah), Sheila (Norman); Uncles Gary, Fred (Carol) Lyle (Evangieline), Kevin (Stacey). Keith and Chris Maisonville also held a very special place in Charles heart as well as many other extended relatives and friends.

Charles is predeceased by his parents, Charles “Bobby” Ramsey and Shelley Urban; Grandfathers Charles “Ruddy” Ramsey and Bill Warner; Grandmother Elvina Warner; Aunties Lorraine, Maureen; Uncles Larry, Arthur, Rae, and his niece Kaizlyn.

A small intimate family and friend gathering to honour Charles will be held at a later date.
