The family of Lloyd & Cathy Bjorklund announce the passing of a beloved sister, Christine Louise Bjorklund (Bruyere), on February 17, 2021.
She was born February 20th, 1955 in Fairview, Alberta. Her childhood years were spent in the region but after high school she travelled the world extensively while living primarily in Vancouver and Toronto.
Chris was fiercely independent from childhood. She was wise beyond her years, she knew her mind and wasn’t afraid to speak it. She could be pragmatic and dogmatic in business yet creative and sensitive in that she filled her spare time writing poetry and performing in community theatre. She had a spiritual side and an ethereal manner, which belied her strength. She was adventurous, undaunted, and known for her convictions and loyalties. She spent her career in administration of Legal and Governmental Affairs in the Church of Scientology.
She is gone much too soon from this earth. She valiantly endured a debilitating autoimmune condition, culminating in a double lung transplant, which led to her demise. She had much wisdom and care yet to give, but her children benefit from the foundational roots of love and knowledge she created and provided. They are comforted in knowing just how hard she tried to stay.
Christine was the third child in a large family and is survived by her daughter Alexis (Mark) with granddaugthers Teyanna and Kylie Moore (Vancouver), daughter Mara and her father Richard Bruyere (Edmonton), along with nine siblings – sisters Audrey (Currie), Alvy (Peter Newman), Gail (Bob Kipke), Sharon (Alvin Zavisha), Carol (Allan French), and brothers Duane (Shauna), Neil (Terry), Dan (Anita), and James (Peggy) Bjorklund, a large extended family, treasured uncles and aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Christine was pre-deceased by six family members: Father Lloyd (2001), Mother Cathy (2012), nephew Ryan Zavisha (1980), niece Lindsay French (1990), niece Tamara Kipke-Raven (2011) and great-nephew Kalen Kipke (2016).
A small family ‘Celebration of Life’ gathering will be planned for this summer.
