Cynthia “Sindee” Gaetz passed away at the Marshall Eliuk Peace River Community Health Centre on December 24, 2025 at the age of 62 years.
She is survived by her husband Jeff Gaetz; daughters Tina, Kasandra, and Brittany; grandchildren Anthony, Shandra, Christopher, Johan, Aedan, Isaac, Isabelle, Sarah, James, Samuel, Josiah, Pheobe, and Willow; great-granddaughter Evelyn; as well as siblings Mary Ann Ziorio, Heather Walsh, Michael Brougham, and Janet Brougham; and nieces and nephews Mary Ann, Alyssa, Gracie, Peter, Nathan, Kayla, Daniel, Grayson, Connor, and Darian.
She was predeceased by her parents Walter and Mary Ann, her brother Walter Dimock, and son William Graham.
Cynthia was born to Walter Cornelius Brougham and Mary Ann Isabelle Walsh on November 10, 1963, in Lachine, Quebec. In the early 70’s, she attended Immaculata Elementary School in St. Laurent, and later moved to Alberta, starting with Calgary, then Red Deer, Rocky Mountain House, and then Grimshaw.
She had amazing artistic talents that not only remain on canvas but also automobiles, home improvements, T-Shirts, custom paraphernalia, and many other things. Her legacy of love shines on, not only in her immediate family, but her church family as well. Classy, witty, elegant, fun-loving, and full of life are only a few words to describe her. She enjoyed gatherings, camping, and road trips to Sunnybrae Bible Camp.
Cynthia was known as “Mom” to many people and she was very passionate about caring for those she loved – but if you got tangled up with a spider, you were on your own.
In 2020, Cynthia approached the Servant’s Heart Initiative in Peace River to start a local Celebrate Recovery group. She had such a big heart for those who were hurting, and she had taken the initiative over the summer to get the program started, even creating T-Shirts for the group with their slogan “Straight Outta Denial”. Memorial donations may be made to the organizations closest to her heart: Celebrate Recovery Canada, Servant's Heart Initiative, or Sunnybrae Bible Camp.
A Gathering of Friends will be held at City on a Hill Community Church (9812 100 Ave, Peace River) on Saturday, January 17, at 3:00 PM.
Care entrusted to Peace Valley Funeral Home Peace River (Kristi Heck) 780-624-1010.
