It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Deane Rolling, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and great great grandfather on September 7, 2025 at the age of 87 years at the Fairview Health Complex.
Deane was born on the family farm northwest of Bluesky to Oscar and Mabel Rolling, December 22, 1937. He lived his life dedicated to his family, community and church.
Deane had many jobs over the years including working at sawmills, on road and elevator construction, driving truck and interior painting. In 1956 he met a beautiful blonde girl at the Grand Hotel cafe in Fairview, falling head over heels for her. After a short courtship Bridget and Deane were married in 1958. Also that same year they returned to the family farm to help his brother, Cecil. In 1958 they acquired their first farmland north of Bluesky where he resided until his passing. Deane operated a successful farming operation first with his brother and then with his son Michael up until he was 84 and still continued to help any way he could.
Deane and Bridget enjoyed traveling and destinations included provinces in Canada, USA, Brazil, Europe, and over 20 winters to Yuma where they enjoyed visiting many friends. In 2021 the family had a great loss with the passing of his wife Bridget.
Deane served his community as an active member on numerous boards, including the Bluesky Co-op, Fairview Co-op Seed Cleaning Association, Fairview Pioneer Museum, to name a few and several church organizations.
Deane had a tremendous love for his family and friends and enjoyed all the phone calls and visits, hearing about what was happening in each of their lives. In the last five years, dad enjoyed going for his daily walks, often times having lengthy talks with his neighbour’s along the way. He also enjoyed the coffee hour every Wednesday morning at the Bluesky Christian Fellowship.
