Delbert Roy Sargeant, the 1st of 10 children, was born in Wainwright Alberta on March 29, 1942, to Roy and Muriel. In 1948 Delbert and family moved to Rimbey Alberta, where he took his schooling. While in Rimbey he owned and operated the local feed mill, built one of the first in-door finishing hog barns and farmed along side his father and brother Marvin on the family grain and cattle farm. In 1966 Delbert bought some land just down from the family farm, in March of that year married his love, Lynn and in July with his new bride they settled into their first home. In August of 1967 their son, Erwin was born. In September 1970 daughter Carley joined the family and in June 1975 daughter Heather completed their family. In their 55 years of marriage Delbert and Lynn made their home in Rimbey, Calgary, Nanton, Ponoka, in 1984 they moved north to Cleardale. There they saw their 3 children graduate and marry. In 2000 they moved to the Rycroft area and settled in to Lynn’s "9 acre farm". In Delbert’s lifetime he did many things, drove truck, custom farmed, everything from haying to combining and all things in between, raised pigs and cattle, in 1988 Delbert bought his first mobile grain cleaner, which in the years since then he has rebuilt, remodled and remodified many many times over. His last big adventure was when he bought a Fendt tractor and forestry tiller.
In his youth, he made his choice to serve God at Greenshields convention and continued faithfully until his passing. Delbert embraced truth and had a love and zeal for the friends and workers. Over the years Delbert and Lynn have had the privilege of both Sunday morning and Wednesday evening bible studies in their home. There was nothing he loved more then to sing the hymns, set up their living room for meeting and greet the friends as they arrived.
On November 23 2021, Delbert passed away suddenly, in his work boots, doing what he enjoyed. He leaves to mourn his loving wife, Lynn, of 55 years.
