Derek Robert Simpson

Derek Simpson, longtime resident of Fairview, Ab, passed away on July 31, 2023 at the age of 57 years.

Derek was born in Fairview, Ab to Jerold & Faye Simpson on March 28, 1966. He attended school at FHS until he was 18 and then pursued a career in the oil patch. He moved to Edmonton in 1996 where he lived until 2008 when he returned to Fairview for the arrival of his grandson, Carson. He continued to live in Fairview up until his death.

He was an avid gun enthusiast, loved to tell a good story, he deeply loved his friends, but most of all, he lived for his grandson.

Derek battled health problems ever since he was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 12. He had more lives than the average person but unfortunately, his body ultimately failed him.

Derek is survived by his daughter, Casey Chudak (Todd), grandson, Carson Theberge & brother, Greg Simpson (Gayleen).

He was predeceased by his mother, Faye and his father Jerold Simpson.

A funeral service will be held for Derek in Fairview, Ab on Aug 14 at 2pm at the Fairview Legion Hall. Click here to view livestream. A burial service will follow at Waterhole Cemetery followed by lunch at the legion
