Diana McBride Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, and beloved sister, grandma, auntie, and friend Diana Lee McBride (Montgomery) on September 2, 2022 at Grande Prairie Regional Hospital in Alberta.

At the time of her death Mom was surrounded by many members of her loving family, all of whom are comforted by, and deeply grateful for, the opportunity to say their goodbyes in person.

Mom was predeceased by her parents, Clifford and Theresa, her sisters Sharon and Valerie, her brother Larry, her nephew Clay, her great-nephew Joseph, and her granddaughter Jodi.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Thereasa Nelson (Ron), sons, Clint McBride and Tyler McBride (Caroline), granddaughters Terry Martin & Leanne McBride, grandsons Colin McBride & Jasper McBride, brothers Dauwayne Montgomery (Diane), Eric Montgomery (Debbie), Cliff Montgomery, sisters Phyllis Stoltz (Bob), Twylia Kuss (Al), many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and lifelong friend, Barb Siemens.

Mom was born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, and was one of nine children to Clifford and Theresa Montgomery. She was raised and resided in Vancouver, BC until the age of eighteen when she moved to Prince George, BC where she married and began her own family.

Growing up Mom had always dreamed of becoming a teacher and although that dream was never realized, she took great pride in her work for the Abbotsford Impact Society, a community outreach and counselling service for the area’s at risk youth.

Mom’s entire being was centred around family. She grieved deeply at each loss. She revered her brothers and was fiercely protective of her baby sister, Twylia. She loved to laugh and her brother Eric could make her laugh like no one else. And woe to any who dared to wrong or hurt any member of her family.

She was a woman of simple pleasures and is famous for saying, “It doesn’t take much to make me happy.” And it truly didn’t. She loved to listen to her brothers Eric and Larry sing (and cried anytime they did). She loved listening to Tyler play his guitar and was in awe of his abilities as a father. She loved our morning coffee together  and really, really, really loved beating me at Scrabble. But her absolute greatest joy in life was her grandchildren. She loved them beyond measure and was always at her happiest when she was with her “Babydoll” and her “Precious”.

Mom has left us with a lasting legacy of love, family, and honesty. We are forever in her debt.

Diana’s children would like to extend a special, heartfelt thank you to Eric & Debbie Montgomery and Al & Twylia Kuss for all of their love and support.

Diana's Service will take place at Peace Valley Funeral Home September 11, 2022 at 3:00 pm, those who wish to join us can follow along on our livestream.
