Don was born May 9, 1928, in Edmonton, Alberta, to Thomas and Beatrice Hart while moving north to Golden Meadow, Alberta.
Don was raised along with his four siblings (Harry, Milly, Lyle, and Ellen) on the family homestead and obtained primary grades in the one-room log school in Golden Meadow. He attended tech school in Calgary for Automotive mechanics. After completing school, Don returned to Fairview, where he worked for Herb Lowe at his Ford dealership for years and at HNR Logging, hauling lumber. However, Don's love for farming was his true passion.
On November 8, 1950, Don married his high school sweetheart (Charlotte), Arline Wolfe. They were busy! In the first eight years of marriage, they had six children. The first, Donna Charlotte, was born on August 28, 1951. Then came Ronald Melvin on December 30, 1952. Next was the first set of twins Karen Grace and Sharon Carol, on July 1, 1954. Lastly, the family welcomed twin boys Timothy Allan & Thomas Harry on August 27, 1958.
Don & Arline and their family moved to the Gage District of the Fairview area in 1959, where they devoted their lives to farming and raising livestock.
Don was an active member of the community. He was involved with the Elks club; he spent time as director for North Peace Gas Co-op. Don loved to camp with his family and always loved to fish and hunt. He always had a great hunting story. He spent his winters curling and, in later years, enjoyed teaching his grandchildren how to curl.
Sadly, Don lost the love of his life in 1995 when Arline passed away. A few years later, Don met Sybil Sundby, and they enjoyed retirement years together, travelling to Arizona in the winter months and numerous hours on the golf course. Lots of time with Don's children and grandchildren. They never missed one of Don's great-grandchild's birthday parties.
Don continued to live at the farm until he was 84 years old when he suffered an unfortunate accident that resulted in losing his leg. After that, he moved to the Harvest Lodge in Fairview, Alberta, where he enjoyed many visits with old friends and neighbours. Don always took pleasure in a game of crib. He spent his last few years at the Fairview Nursing home.
Donald was predeceased by his loving wife, Arline Hart, and his companion Sybil Sundby. His eldest daughter Donna Armstrong and daughter-in-law Kim Hart.
Donald is survived by his children Murry Armstrong, Ron & Darlene Hart, Karen & Gerald Proctor, Sharon Hart & Nester Syrnyk, Tim & Dianne Hart, and Tom Hart. His grandchildren Trina (Steve) Risselada, Lana (James) Marsh, Bryan Hart (Kristy Moskalyk), Robert (Kyler) Hart-Moore, Danette (Shay) Roth, Dana Proctor, Hart (Lisa) Proctor, Cheryl (Rob) Young, Cindy Doll, Kelsey (Tanya) Hart, Kristy (Jon) Walker, Terry Hart, Kory Hart, Dennis Coulter, Zak Hart, Ben Hart.
