It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dorothy Soroka of Manning, Alberta, on November 3, 2025, at the age of 89. She leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
At the age of 22, Dorothy married Bill Soroka, and together they shared 43 wonderful years, raising three sons on their cattle and grain farm in Manning. After Bill’s passing at 65, Dorothy found companionship once again with a dear friend, Ed May, with whom she shared 17 happy years and the joy of an even larger extended family.
Family was at the center of everything Dorothy did. She was a proud and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
Dorothy will be remembered for her kind spirit, warm smile, generous heart, and quiet strength through life’s greatest challenges. She found joy in her family, friends, and community; and loved to escape the winters by going to Yuma, Arizona.
She is lovingly survived by her partner Ed May; sons & daughter-in-law’s Lanny Soroka, Tharen (Denise) Soroka, Jane Soroka; grandchildren Sam (Nicole), Daken (Allie), Zoey, Danielle, Bonita, Jessie; Great-grandchildren Waylen, Violet, Nayte, Tymber; along with many extended family members and friends.
Dorothy was predeceased by her son Denton, first husband Bill, grandchildren Lauranda, Delton, Branden; siblings Lloyd, Cecil, Keith, Norman, Ken, Muriel, Myrtle, and Inez.
Her funeral service will be held on November 12, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at St. James Parish in Manning. Interment will follow at North Star Cemetery, with a fellowship & luncheon to follow. Friends and family are warmly invited to gather and honour Dorothy’s life.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Battle River Ag Society P.O. Box 272, Manning, AB T0H 2M0 or Manning Palliative Care
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the Del-Aire Lodge, the Manning Hospital and all of their staff for their kind and compassionate care.
Though Dorothy has departed this earthly realm, her legacy endures — a legacy of love that will continue to illuminate the lives of family and friends in the darkest of hours. May her spirit soar on wings of eternal peace, forever cherished in the tender embrace of memory.
Her love, warmth, and wisdom will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
