It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing of Eileen Ann Kerschabumer (Purcha) on August 26, 2025, at the age of 70, in Grande Prairie, Alberta, at Prairie Lakes Hospice.
Eileen was born in Spirit River on February 3, 1955, the only daughter to Stanley and Jessie Purcha. She had 4 brothers Gary, Ronnie, Ken & Al, and together they grew up in Tangent, AB.
Eileen lived most of her adult life in Fairview and worked numerous jobs. Some included waitressing for Jimmy Derr at the Dragon Palace, reception in Doctor Chung’s office, Security at The Fairview College, Caretaker at George Lake and the Rodney Bjornson Fitness Center in Hines Creek.
She married Len Kerschbaumer on June 12, 1982 and together they started a life in Fairview. They were blessed with 3 daughters, Jessica, Candice and Larissa. In 1993, the family moved to a farm in Hines Creek to enjoy raising their children out of town. Len farmed and started a seed cleaning plant, while Eileen enjoyed gardening and raising her girls. She had a profound love for animals and could be found doing Pet Therapy in the Hospital and nearby lodges. She also had a Petting Zoo at numerous local events. Many people visited her so called “Funny Farm” as over the years she had almost every animal imaginable. She dedicated her life to her children, family and community, always lending a helping hand and putting others before herself.
Mom will be remembered most for her kind smile and her warm hugs that she shared with everyone she met, as well as her deep devotion and love for her family. She was the best “Mama” around, and took her two granddaughters on many crazy adventures, picking mushrooms, camping at the golf course, picking up goats, puppies or kittens, visiting at the lodge, and attending all their school events. She will be missed dearly.
Eileen is survived by her loving husband Len Kerschbaumer; daughter Jessica (Kris Waldo), Candice (Trevor Blake); granddaughters Calla & Tawny; Larissa (Kurt Lansdowne); and her beautiful Golden Retriever Hanna.
The family would like to extend a warm thank you to the doctors, nurses, volunteers and staff at Prairie Lakes Hospice.
A Celebration of life for Eileen will be announced at a later date.
Care entrusted to Peace Valley Funeral Home Fairview (Kristi Heck) 780-835-3306.
