Ernie C Summers

Ernie C Summers born April 22, 1939, passed away on August 2, 2021 at the age of 82.  Ernie will always be lovingly remembered.

Ernie grew up in Worsley, Alberta. After graduating from Worsley High he left for Calgary to SAIT for automotive mechanics. He married Marlene November 2, 1963 in Calgary, AB. They moved to Worsley in 1964, building their home on the farm in 1965. They farmed there for 41 years, raising 3 children.

Ernie’s lifelong passion was farming which continued into his retirement, working alongside his son David.  Time away from the farm was spent travelling throughout Canada and the United States. Winters were mostly spent in Yuma, where he spent time at garage sales bartering on electronics and tools. Ernie collected pens, phones, flashlights, and loved tinkering on his garage sale treasures making necessary repairs then bringing them home as gifts for his family. He also enjoyed dancing and playing cards in the afternoons with new and old friends at their chosen winter park.

In 2018 Ernie and Marlene moved to the Lakeview Seniors Housing Complex in Clairmont where he continued to make repairs to electronics, and play cards with friends.

Ernie will be greatly missed by his wife Marlene, Children David (Sharna) Summers, Kathy (Joe) Bellisle, Diane (Lance) Wiebe. Grandchildren Katlyne (Shawn) Schwerdt, Brody (Cassie) Hill, Jaired Bellisle, Logan Bellisle, Cole Wiebe (Ashlyn White), Kaila Wiebe, and great grandchild Sawyer Schwerdt.

He was predeceased by his parents Logan and Edna Summers, and brother Leslie Summers.

A private family gathering will take place at a later date.
