With profound love and sorrow, the family of Eva Margret Walmsley announces her peaceful passing on November 17, 2025, at the age of 70, surrounded by family.
Eva was born on November 16, 1955, to Dora and Charlie Story. She grew up alongside her large family, carrying with her the values of hard work, kindness, and resilience.
She was predeceased by her parents Charles and Dora, her infant daughter Maryellen, whose memory she cherished throughout her life, her brother Ted Story, brother-in-law Mike O’Hearn, father-in-law Fred Walmsley, mother-in-law Emma Walmsley, and sister-in-law Brenda Walmlsey.
Eva’s life was defined by her generous and giving heart. She always placed others before herself, even in times of pain, and her love knew no bounds. She was the very best mom and grandma, a devoted farm wife, a tireless worker, and a natural caregiver whose compassion touched everyone she met. She was also expecting her first great-grandchild and was beyond excited!
Above all, Eva had a deep and abiding faith in God, which guided her through life’s joys and challenges and gave her strength to love unconditionally.
She leaves behind her beloved husband, Darrell Walmsley, her children: Jason Walmsley (Danae) and Melissa Gelech (Calvin), and her treasured grandchildren: Brody (Keylee), Holden, Mishaela, Emma, Kinzee, and Keaton.
Eva is also lovingly remembered by her siblings: Albert Story (Lucy), Esther Freiburger (Dwayne), Fran Story, Teresa O’Hearn, Tim Story (Valda), and Andy Story (Carole), along with numerous nieces, nephews, and special family friends who were blessed by her kindness and care.
Eva’s legacy is one of selflessness, strength, faith, and love. She will be remembered for her warm smile, her hardworking spirit, and the way she made everyone feel valued and cared for with a big hug and her delicious homemade treats! Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and community.
A Celebration of Eva’s life will take place Saturday, November 29th at 2:00 at the Whitelaw Hall. This will be a time for those who loved Eva to gather and honour her remarkable journey as well as the countless ways she enriched our lives.
