Gerald Helle Obituary

Gerald Joseph Helle ~ March 27, 1939 to November 16, 2022 ~ Resident of Fairview, AB

Gerald was raised in Dixonville, Alberta by Sylvester and Virginia Helle. He went to school and worked on the family farm with his siblings; Ralph, Garney, Dorothy, Francis, Shirley, and Douglas. Gerald lived and worked hard as he grew up in Dixonville. Gerald left home and ventured out, working for many employers along the way. He worked as a line slasher for many years for many companies around the Fairview Area, and in the summertime, he also worked as a Firefighter for the Hines Creek Forestry. He made a living working for a pipeline company known as Saddle River Maintenance for a number of years until his retirement. During Gerald's hard-working years for many different companies, he met and taught a lot of people to enjoy their jobs and to respect the environment. Gerald had worked up to being a heavy-duty equipment operator before retiring.

Gerald really enjoyed the outdoors, he also loved horses, rodeo, camping, country music, and enjoying time with family and friends. He made sure he got to spectate the rodeo circuit of the Peace Country. Gerald had met and fallen in love with Josephine Nancy McAllister. Together, Gerald and Josie had ten children; Rose, Blue, Randy, Mark, Loretta, Juanita, Doyle, Darren, Bobbi-Jo, and Cindy. Gerald and Josie raised their children in the town of Fairview, Alberta.

Throughout Gerald’s growing-up years with his family, he always made sure they got to go hunting, fishing, trapping, and frequent picnics. He always had great stories, and no matter what, Gerald was always lending a helping hand, especially to ones in need. Gerald was a well-respected man from his hard work ethic, to his sensitive side when it came to his family. He always had his door opened and really enjoyed playing a great game of cards. Gerald had the best laugh when he beat you in a game of cards or a poor attitude when he lost - but he was always a great sport!

Gerald will be missed so dearly by all of his children, his brothers and sister, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. A reminder that Gerald loved all his family and friends.

Gerald was predeceased by his wife Josephine Nancy Helle, and his children Rose Helle, Randy Helle, and Mark Helle. He is also predeceased by his father Sylvester Helle, mother Virigina Helle, brother Ralph Helle, sister-in-law Kathleen Patricia Helle, sisters Dorothy Glen and Francis Hoszauski.

Gerald is survived by his children; Blue, Loretta, Juanita, Doyle, Darren, Bobbi-Jo, and Cindy. He also leaves behind lots of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Gerald is survived by siblings, brothers Garney Helle, Doug Helle, and sister Shirley McQueen (Graham McQueen). He is also survived by a lot of cousins, nieces and nephews and a lot of friends, especially his hunting buddy Shane Coyman. Thank you so much for being such a great friend.

A Ceremony of Life will be held at a later date in the Spring time.
