Gerald Sidoroff

Gerald Sidoroff, 83, went to be with his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on May 9, 2024.

Gerald was the son of the late John and Efrosinsia (Chuchalin) Sidoroff. Morris Sidoroff, Gerald's only sibling, passed on in 2020.

Gerald was briefly married later in life to Natalia Shigimata who passed away in 2009.

The Sidoroff family moved from Guy, Alberta in 1947 to Peace River, Alberta. Gerald lived in his family home for over 70 years. The home was the iconic pink, white blue stripped home just south of the Peace River bridge, alongside the old highway on the bank of the mighty Peace.

Gerald graduated from the Peace River TA Norris high school. He took training as an amateur radio operator (aka ham radio) and became very proficient in the required radio and Morse code skills. He used those skills at the Peace River and Calgary airport as well as in the Yukon territories working for the government. Later in life he operated a vending machine business and gas station in Peace River.

Gerald was very proud of his Russian heritage. He gathered and authored detailed information of the Sidoroff immigration from Russia to Canada for family history books.

Graveside services are being held on Tuesday, May 14 at the Greek Orthodox Church cemetery in Hines Creek.
