Glen Wayne Thorson

It is with heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Glen Thorson who passed unexpectedly at home on the morning of December 20th at the age of 71.

Glen was born on April 25th, 1952, in Conora, Saskatchewan. In 1975 Glen moved to Worsley, Alberta where he went to work at UFA and later moved on to working in the oilfield running heavy equipment.

In 1977 Glen met his partner Eunice and they were later married in May of 1993. In March 1979 they welcomed their son Corey into the world.

Glen was best known as an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing and hunting. In 1996 Glen and Eunice got their yearly lot at Shaw’s Point Lake resort where Glen spent every day he possibly could. You would see him out on the boat fishing or around the campfire sharing stories and making memories. He always had his massive cooking pans ready to cook his fish fry or Bannock over the fire for several friends and family.

Come fall, you would see Glen packing up and heading out hunting. He always looked forward to heading out to the bush, setting up camp and enjoying the outdoors while hunting his moose. Glen always had a good fishing or hunting story to share. Glen passed on his love for fishing and hunting on to his grandchildren and nephews, and before he knew it, they were out fishing him and always bugging him about catching a bigger fish than him. He loved every minute spent with them.

Glen is survived by his wife Eunice, son Corey (Candace), grandkids Chance and Taylor, stepsons Marty Banks and Kevin (Jen) Banks, Joseph, Colin, and Jessica. Sisters Kathy (Dwayne) Stirling, Cheryl Thorson and Beverly Farthing, sisters-in-law Marie Morgan. Glenda Biegel, Gail Obrigewitch, Susan (Marvin) Smith, Kay Holstrom, Beverly (Jim) Chernick, brothers-in-law David (Nancy) Gillett and Mark (Tracey) Gillett and numerous nieces and nephews. Glen is pre-deceased by his parents John and Annie Thorson.

A gathering of Friends and Family will be held on January 5th, 2024, at 1:00 at the Woodlawn Hall.
