Grace Helen Zavisha
January 10, 1950 – April 2, 2021
Grace was born on January 10, 1950 in Fairview, Alberta to Peter and Catherine (Kay) Zavisha. She was raised in Hines Creek where she spent the majority of her adult life. Surrounded by the love of her family, Grace passed away peacefully at the Fairview Hospital on April 2, 2021.
Grace grew up on the farm and was the oldest girl of nine children and grew up being not just her Mom’s helper, but also her Dad’s. She could do anything, fix her tractor or bake the best cinnamon buns ever.
Grace married young and was blessed with 4 children. Working full time as a bookkeeper, raising four kids and volunteering in their activities kept her extremely busy. Her creativity, intelligence, practicality and independence made her a pivotal role in whatever job she had, especially in the family business.
After retirement, Grace spent her time with family, gardening, baking, cooking, crafting and, of course, many hours volunteering in Hines Creek at the Homesteader Lodge, End of Steel Museum and with Secret Santa.
She will be dearly missed by her mom Kay Zavisha; her children Jackie, Niki (Shawn) Wallace, Collin (Courtney) Burns and Fenton (Christie) Burns; her grandchildren Colton Burns, Brock Wallace, Donovan Wallace, Tyson Gerelus, Tyler Gerelus, Mylee Burns, Mexen Burns, Carter Burns, Mercedes Burns, Hunter Burns and Parker Burns;
her siblings Richard Zavisha (Heather), Anna Basnett (Rick), Steve Zavisha (Kathy), Charlie Zavisha, Alvin Zavisha (Sharon), Elsie Morin (Larry) and Lauri Wagner (Cliff), along with numerous nieces and nephews.
She is now reunited with her dad Peter, her sister Vicki, her niece Madison and her nephews Ryan and Kelsey.
The family would like to sincerely thank Dr. Irvine and the nurses at the Fairview Hospital. The love, care and support she received during her stay was incredible.
