With heavy hearts, we announce the unexpected passing of our beloved wife, mother and Grammi Ida Helen Thoma, on September 6, 2022, at the University of Alberta Hospital.
She grew up in Friedenstal and later moved to Fairview, where she married Peter. She loved music, gardening, yard work, baking and watching the Oilers play hockey. She was very artistic and made beautiful stained glass. Spending time with family was her greatest joy.
Ida's survived by her husband Peter of 58 years. Her children Lynette (Petey), Darren (Tina), and grandchildren Calissa, Daine, Logan, and Ava.
She also leaves to mourn her siblings Peter (Adeline), Margaret, Wendelin, Ilene (Vernon), Caroline, Lorraine (Donald), Elizabeth (Fred), Genevieve, Anne, John, Frank (Leslie), Evelyn (Aaron) and Elaine (Russell). Her brother is law John Thoma, and her sister-in-law Annie Schulzki. Numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Ida's predeceased by her parents, Wendelin and Monica Heck, brothers-in-law Blaine Rolling, Fred Ramsay, Thor Holubowich, Fred Fischer, and Albert Schulzki. Sisters-in-law Marjorie Heck, Dianne Heck, Paula Thoma and Mary Fischer.
A Celebration of Life will occur on Friday, September 16, 2022, at 1:30 pm at Friedenstal Hall.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the University of Alberta Hospital or Grey Nuns Community Hospital.
