Irene Gail (Umbach) Wright

Gail Wright of Fairview, Alberta passed away at the Fairview Hospital on April 2, 2025 at the age of 83 years.

Gail was born May 31, 1941, in Pouce Coupe BC, to parents John and Irene Umbach. She was the oldest of her 6 siblings. When Gail was 9 months old, they moved to Fairview AB where she grew up and completed her schooling. She was an avid sports gal. She loved baseball and curling.

After graduation, she moved to Calgary to attend the Henderson Secretarial School, eventually relocating to Edmonton for work. 

She met Derek Wright in the summer of 1959 and they were married in 1961. From there, they moved to McBride BC, where their 3 children were born: John in 1962, Gary in 1964 and Cindy in 1966. She remained in McBride until October 2018, when she decided to move back home to Fairview. 

Gail was predeceased by her first husband Derek; her sons John and Gary; her parents John and Irene Umbach; and her brother Allen. As well as her partner Reuben Brandt and her granddaughter Alannah Rollinson. 

She leaves to mourn her passing, her daughter Cindy (Victor) and their children Alex (Lauren), Mikala and Josanna; her daughter-in-law Tracy and her children Keaton and Karli; her 5 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; her sisters Donna, Carol, and Shirley; and her brother Ken.

Tea and Fellowship will be held at Fairview Long-Term Care on Saturday, April 26, 2025 at 2:30 PM.
