John Martin Hilts

Mr. John Hilts of Fairview, Alberta passed away at the Fairview Health Complex on January 17, 2025, at the age of 64 years.

John is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Deborah; daughter Nicole (Max) Shannon, son Christopher; grandson Hunter Shannon; sister Cathy Hilts of Lindsay, Ontario; and brother Michael (Kathy) Hilts of Stouffville, Ontario.

He was predeceased by his parents Eleanor and Norman Hilts of Lindsay, Ontario.

John was born in Toronto, Ontario where he recalls beginning an interest in sports. He used to tell stories about playing catcher on a baseball team and playing football. When he began to have difficulties playing sports, he continued his interest through televised sports. Even after his move to Alberta, John remained a loyal fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Toronto Blue Jays. He also had developed an interest in gardening and spoiling his grandson.

Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
