Keith Paulson Obituary

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Keith Beverly Paulson, a father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and above all, a man with a generous heart.

Keith was born in China in May 1939 to missionary parents, Clifford and Florence Paulson. Raised in a family grounded in service and love, he carried those values with him throughout his life. His early years in China were challenging, with the capture of his older brother as a prisoner of war and a daring multi-country escape with his family to safety, and eventually finding new beginnings in Canada. These experiences instilled in Keith an appreciation for the simple things in life, a quiet strength, and a broad perspective that shaped the way he observed and engaged with the world.

Keith attended high school at Nutana Collegiate in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, where he loved playing football. He was a talented, popular athlete who enjoyed socializing with his classmates. His adventurous spirit drove him to travel extensively, exploring many corners of the world and living in various locations across Western Canada. He embraced many new places, friends, and experiences along the way.

No matter where Keith wandered, he made time to stay connected to family. He shared lasting bonds with his six siblings: Philip (deceased), Elaine (deceased), Blake (Shirley), Duane (Loris), Lucille (John Gishler), and Marguerite. He valued his family ties and conversations that spanned both distance and time. Keith was somewhat of a firefly, bringing joyful light to those around him briefly before moving on to new adventures. Elusive at times, and also able to show up at just the right moment to bring his own glowing laughter to a family gathering.

Keith enjoyed building at a young age, creating many wooden projects with his brothers. He became an expert builder, admired for his precise eye for a perfect angle. He took pride in creating commercial and residential properties and could fix almost anything with skill and care.

He shared a love for fishing with his friends and family. He spent many hours trying to catch supper and sharing hilarious stories from his youth of outrageous pranks he pulled on his sisters, to creative adventures with his brothers. His stories brought laughter and fond memories to everyone who knew him. His life was marked not by loud acclaim, but by a quiet smile, a gentle, generous hand, and a chuckling laugh.

Keith was a father to four children: his sons John, David and Jody, and his daughter Wendy. Tragically, he bore the unimaginable heartbreak of being predeceased by all of his sons. Keith is survived by his daughter Wendy, grandchildren, and many extended family members.

Keith's life reflected resilience and love. He was a Renaissance man who lived life on his own terms, simply, with little desire for materialistic objects. He cherished humorous conversations and the joy of a good meal with friends and family.

Keith passed away peacefully on February 22, 2026 in Peace River, Alberta in the comfort of his loving sister, Marguerite. Many thanks from his family to his gentle, kind caregivers who took care of him over his last years and days. We know Keith was a favourite resident, and we understand why.

Loving memories of Keith will remain with all of us who knew and loved him.
