Lydia (Krahn) Martin

Lydia Martin (nee Krahn) passed away on November 17, 2023, at the age of 91 years, just shy of her 92 birthday, in Grimshaw, AB.

Lydia was born November 27, 1931, in Hines Creek, AB. She moved to Fairview in her teens where she lived with her sisters and worked at a bank, until she met Tom Martin. She married and moved just north of Grimshaw, where they would build a farming business. They would divorce in 1984. Lydia raised two children and one granddaughter. She was very involved in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s lives. She would often travel with her grandchildren when she wasn’t adventuring on her own! During her years she was a very active volunteer, giving her time to many different causes.

She is survived by her son Allan Martin and her daughter Margo (Mervyn) Sims. Grandchildren: Natasha (Darren Schotte) Funk, Leanne (Andrew Rigg) Lee, Brandie (Darcy Moore) Martin, Katrina (Manuel Noskey) Lizotte and Kaz (Becky) Lizotte. Great Grandchildren: Alanta, Kaitlyn, Tyler, Marcus, Joshua, and Hayes. Siblings Londor (Georgette) Krahn, Neil (Darlene) Krahn, Linda Hudak and Robert Krahn and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded by her parents Fred and Wanda Krahn, siblings, Olga Marshall, Martha Thompson, Katie Stewart, Emma Kramer, August Krahn, Gerhart Krahn, Matey Charchuk, Hedwig Sherwood and Margaret Neveu.

Funeral to be held graveside at Peace Grove Lutheran Cemetery, North of Hines Creek at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, November 25, 2023. Luncheon to follow at the Hines Creek Hotel (107 – 10 st Hines Creek).

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Crossroads Resource Centre and Women's Shelter or plant a tree for Lydia.
