Mitzi-Lynne Winter Morgan

With sadness we announce the passing of Mitzi-Lynne Morgan on June 8, 2025 of High Level, Alberta at the age of 85. Born Makan William Minovi to Ellen Mary Badham and Mojtoba Minovi in London, England on April 10, 1940. In 1970 Makan’s name was changed to Mark Morgan, and in 2014 to Mitzi-Lynne Morgan, she is predeceased by both parents and brother, Ramin Minovi

Between the late 1950’s to early 1970’s, Mitzi competed in cycling races and time trials with her brother, Ramin, and best friend Colin Rumsey, and was even named cycling champion in Wales in 1967. She also found time to meet and marry Sheila Gillian New and continued living and working in England, welcoming their firstborn, Frances Ann.

Mitzi, Sheila and Franki moved from England to Calgary, Alberta in 1975 where their 3 younger children were born. She worked for Gienow Windows, the LDS church and H&R Block until she and Sheila moved to High Level, Alberta with the plan to retire. Upon arriving, Mitzi found her wealth of tax knowledge too much to not share and continued working at H&R Block.

She continued to train for races, marathons now, alongside her son and two of her daughters, into her 70’s.

She is survived by wife Sheila, children Franki, Mike, Fiona, Nadine, and grandchildren Julia, Matthias, Jake, Wren, Sean, Johnathan, and Ashley.

Known for her big heart and dry sense of humor, Mitzi is loved and missed by surviving family and many friends.

In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to the Northern Lights Regional Humane Society in High Level in loving memory of Mitzi’s great affection for animals.
