It is with heavy hearts that the family of Peter Frixel of Clear Hills County announces his passing on July 28, 2025 at the age of 71.
Peter Frixel was born March 8, 1954 in Germany, to Werner and Ottilia Frixel. Peter was a devoted and loving son, husband, and father. Werner, Ottilia and Peter moved from Germany to Montreal in 1957. He attended school in Montreal, then moved on to Concordia University in Montreal, where he took night courses while working at the Bank of Canada. He graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce before heading to Alberta. He first landed a job in Lethbridge, but had the opportunity to transfer to Hines Creek, which he quickly took.
While working in Hines Creek, he met the love of his life, Joanne, and they were soon married. Neither wanted to live in town, so they were able to purchase land outside of Hines Creek, where they built a home. All the while, they worked at the bank, engaged in beekeeping, and raised three children. After working at the bank, Peter worked at AFSC and then semi-retired, as a councilor for Clear Hills County. Peter loved what he called his “piece of paradise”, where he had built the house. It was here he spent hours building cabinets, sawing wood and building trails through his piece of bush and picking out the next tree to fall.
Peter is survived by his wife Joanne Frixel (nee Hoover); son Jeff Frixel (Kimberly); granddaughters Hannah and Hayley; daughter Alison Bjornson (Dallas Bjornson); grandsons Magnus and Micah; and son Anthony Frixel.
Peter was predeceased by his parents Ottilia and Werner Frixel.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, August 19th at 2:00 pm at Eureka River Hall, followed by a luncheon. Internment to follow at Montagneuse Valley Cemetery #2.
Care entrusted to Peace Valley Funeral Home Fairview (Kristi Heck) 780-835-3306.
