With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Randolph (Randy) Sturgeon on October 11, 2024. Born in Peace River, Alberta, on June 29, 1955, to Bill and Betty Sturgeon, Randy grew up in Grimshaw, where he attended school until the age of 14.
Randy began his working life as a cowboy and participated in rodeo during his spare time. He later transitioned into the construction industry before finding his passion in farming, which he pursued until his passing.
Randy leaves behind his loving wife, Joy; his sons, Willie (Gypsy) and Dustin; his mother, Betty; and his brothers, Gary (Debbie), Brad (Pat), and Ken (Shelly). He is also survived by his half-siblings, Lin Sturgeon and Patty (Dave) Connolley; his stepsister, Bev Murphy; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Randy was predeceased by his father, Bill.
A viewing will be held at Peace Valley Funeral Home in Peace River on Thursday, October 17, at 7:00 p.m. The graveside service will take place on Friday, October 18, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at the Grimshaw Women’s Institute Cemetery, followed by a time of fellowship at Warrensville Hall.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Randy's memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity or organization of your choice.
