It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Randy John Perkins - a loving husband, father, son, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, and friend - on Friday, November 19, 2021 at the age of 52.
Randy was born July 4, 1969, at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary, Alberta to John and Evelyn Perkins. He grew up in Cochrane, Alberta, and graduated from Cochrane High School. Randy then attended Lethbridge Community College and studied watershed management. After receiving his diploma, he went to Fairview College for his certificate in farrier science and proceeded to work as a farrier for the remainder of his life.
Randy also worked for the County of Clearhills, later for the Government of Alberta in Fairview, as a production systems technologist in conservation and soil & water. He served in this position for 22 years. Later in his life, Randy began working for GPRC at the college farm. He was involved with the David Thompson Bible Camp, where he served as a board member for many years. Here he met Shelley, who he married on May 18, 1996. They were blessed with three children - Scott, Brittany, and Amanda.
Randy volunteered with various organizations throughout the years including, the Fairview Fire Department (9 yrs), Fire and Rescue Society (9 yrs), Peace Regional Search and Rescue (8 yrs), and the Fairview 4-H Multi-Club.
Randy leaves his wife Shelley and his children Scott, Brittany, and Amanda to cherish his memory. He will also live on through his mother Evelyn, his siblings Roberta, Linda (Dale), and Roy (Colleen), and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He is pre-deceased by his father, John.
He is remembered for his honesty, kindness, loyalty, and hard work ethic by the people whose lives he has touched.
A service will be held on Saturday, November 27, 2021 at 2:00pm, at the Fairview Alliance Church. Unfortunately due to Covid restrictions, attendance will be by invite only. However, the service will be available to attend by joining our livestream by clicking here.
