With heavy hearts we mourn the sudden passing of Raymond Paul Nikiforuk Sr. at the age of 73, at the U of A Hospital in Edmonton, Alberta, on January 26, 2024.
Ray was born April 21, 1950 at the Notre Dame Hospital in North Battleford Saskatchewan to Elizabeth and Daniel Nikiforuk. Living a very active life, Ray was a leader, a teacher, a horseman, and an entrepreneur. Above all, as a father he was known for being a visionary, provoking thought in a kind, compassionate manner, instilling strong work ethic and community values in the family unit. Always willing to lend a helping hand to neighbors, friends, and those less fortunate.
Raymond is survived by his Life Partner Ann; Brother Donald (Sharyn) Nikiforuk, Sister Joyce (Murray) Nelson, Uncle Adam Srayko, Aunt Minnie, Aunt Oraise, Aunt Olga and Uncle Peter. . Ray and Ann together having 4 children; Raymond Jr. (Alaina), Daniel (Meghan), Natalie (Joseph), and Carlos (Helena), combined with 3 children from his first marriage to Kathleen Rhyason; Lethe (Troy), Christopher, and Samantha (Chris), and 2 Step Children; John (Jay) and Jacqueline (Ralph), their home was always a busy place. Later joined by the apple of Ray’s existence; his grand-children; Randy, Beth, String-Fellow, Morgan, Caissa, Bryn, Maverick, Hanson, Robert and Eowynn, also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Predeceased by: Mother (Elizabeth Galloway nee:Srayko) and Father Daniel Nikiforuk.
A Celebration of Raymond's Life will take place Saturday, May 18th, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at "The Maples" at Dunvegan Provincial Park. If you wish to attend, please RSVP via email rnikiforukcelebration@gmail.com
