Terry Rudolf Schmidek

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Terry Rudolf Schmidek on November 24th, 2023 in his apartment in Edmonton. He has been reunited in external peace with his Father Wilfred Schmidek, Mother Adeline Schmidek and the father that raised him Stan Hryniuk, Grandparents Rudolf and Wilhilmina Schmidek and Tom and Netti Bochon.

Born in Hinton Alberta. Terry suffered unexplainable loss and grief at age four. Terry and his brother Jerry survived the horrific accident that killed their parents. Terry and his siblings Doloris Dacyk (Dale Schwerdt) Stanley Schmidek, Sharon Noullett (Brian) and Jerry Schmidek went to live in Fairview with Stan, Mary, Larry and Brian Hryniuk. A tragedy that Terry never fully recovered from.

In his younger days Terry was the entertainer of the family. Always trying to bring laughter into our world. Terry had a heart of gold and was willing to help anyone. He spent his childhood and teenage life in Fairview, Lethbridge and Edmonton. Summers were spent with Aunts, Uncles, cousins and grandparents. Then later in years at Jack and Doloris Dacyk where he loved to go the Dacyk farm in Cleardale.

Terry loved boating , fishing, knee boarding and camping and his dogs.  Some of his favourite trips were with his sisters and family to visit Uncle Stan and Aunty Mary in their Kelowna home. He loved his nieces and nephews beyond words.  

Terry’s careers started in 1983 as a maintenance service worker and advanced himself up to operational manager later in his life.  

May Terry rest in peace and his carefree spirit live within us for eternity.

Celebration of life will be held May 16, 2024 at Rosenthal Community Hall in Stony Plain.
