Tom (Tommy) McNeil

It is with heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of our beloved partner, Dad, and friend Tom (Tommy) McNeil on Sunday, June 14, 2026 in Dunvegan, AB.

Tom is survived by his best friend and partner Donna, his most loved children Mitch & Alexis (Cam) and our Megs, Willie, brother and sister-in-law Sandy & Margaret, nephew George, niece Mabel, uncle and aunt Lawrence & Shirley, numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, sister-in-law Connie and brothers-in-law Gord & Ian.

Tom is pre-deceased by parents George & Nan MacNeil, grandparents George & Mabel, Thomas & Jamesina, in-laws Don & Marg Seller, various aunts and uncles, cousin Andy, brother-in-law Butch, and sister-in-law Brenda.

Tom was born in Glace Bay, NS on May 27, 1963 to George and Nan MacNeil. He had grown up in Glace Bay, spending a lot of time at the Mira River where his parents had a bungalow. Tom graduated high school in Glace Bay and went on to the University of Acadia in Annapolis Valley where he graduated with a Geology Degree. In 1988, Tom moved to Calgary, AB in search of work and started his oilfield career. Tom became an upper air specialist, which took him to Cambridge Bay, NWT (now Nunavut) where he met the love of his life, Donna, following her to Inuvik, NWT. Tom and Donna welcomed Mitch in Dec. of 1993, and then relocated to Fairview where Alexis was welcomed in Jan. 1996. The family resided in Fairview, Tom and Donna built a house six years ago in Dunvegan where Tom spent the rest of his days watching the Peace River flow and entertaining friends and family.

Tom’s greatest joy in life were/are his children. He was the glue to his family and extended family. Tom was a social butterfly and will be dearly missed by all who loved him.

A Celebration of Life will take place at the Fairview Legion on July 25 at 1:00 pm.
