Violet Nora Aune

Violet Aune was born in Whitelaw, Alberta, Canada, on October 1, 1926, to parents George & Mary Hamel. Her school years were at the Deer Hill school, north of Fairview, AB.

On May 16, 1947, she married Albert Aune, and they had two children: Dwayne in 1950 and Yvette in 1953.

Violet is survived by her daughter Yvette Vanberg (Ken); granddaughter Treena Voth (Wayne); granddaughter Cindy Vanberg (grandchildren, Kasper, & Lyla); grandson Lance Vanberg (Jenny); grandchildren Anika, Henry, Nova).

Violet was predeceased by her husband Albert Aune, her mother Mary McLellan, her father George Hamel and all her Hamel siblings, Mildred, Clarence, Gordon, Norman; her son Dwayne Aune, grandson Erik Aune and Erik’s mother, daughter-in-law Jeanne Aune. Violet was also predeceased by her stepfather, Herb McLellan and his children, stepbrother Willis McLellan, step sister Agnes McKeachnie, and step sister Mary Rose.

She loved the farm life, which included gardening, raising chickens and selling the eggs, along with milking cows, separating the cream from the milk and selling it to the cream processors. Often, Violet and Yvette spent the normal evenings playing crib together. She was a wonderful community-minded housekeeper & seamstress in their farmhouse. Even during her time at Long Term Care in Fairview, she was tremendously quick-witted and seemed to always have an answer.

Albert and Violet made some travel trips, including the bus trip to the NWT. Albert and Violet eventually sold the farm and moved to the town of Fairview, AB. In her last years, she resided in their Fairview house, Harvest Lodge, and Fairview Hospital Long Term Care.

Violet’s family wishes to thank Dr. Bob Irvine, all the Fairview hospital staff, the Harvest Lodge staff, the Long Term Care staff, her friends and neighbours, including Jan & Ken Meston, Harvey & Vicky McKeachnie, Tammy & Neil McKeachnie, and Lynne Bask, for years of gentle thoughtfulness.

Cremation has taken place. There will be no funeral service.
