Wilfred Brian Paul

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Wilfred Paul on Thursday, December 4th, 2025, at the age of 92 years old. He passed away peacefully at his home in Fairview.

Wilfred is survived by his sister Myrna Shmyr; nieces Susy and Cindy; nephew Norm; and their children and grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents Norman and Ada Paul, and his older brother Alan.

 Although Wilfred was never married or had any children, he was like a father figure to Sue, Cindy and Norm. He was a man whom we all looked up to and respected in every way.

Wilfred attended Fairview College and obtained a bachelor’s degree in agriculture. This is what really started his life and farming, which he loved doing. Wilfred loved fishing, camping, farming, hunting, and bluegrass music. He loved visiting with his family, where they would have lunch and play cards, discussing his great-nephews and nieces and what they were doing; be that basketball, hockey, or their schooling. Wilfred always enjoyed looking at pictures of his nieces' and nephews' milestones in their lives.

Whether he was sitting by a campfire, walking in a field of wheat, or sitting on a riverbank, Wilfred had a love for simple things in life. That's who he truly was, a down-to-earth man who cared most about his family.

Wilfred enjoyed travelling. One summer, along with Bill and Myrna, niece Cindy and her husband Ken, Wilfred took a trip down the Alaska Highway. He also went a few times to Arizona to visit Cindy and Ken, but the trips that were heard most about were when he had gone to up to the Northwest Territories; once through the Alberta Wheat Board, and the other afterwards by himself.

There were countless camping trips with the Schneider and Freed families at Sturgeon Lake. Wilfred frequently went hunting with Ed Schneider and Bill Freed, each trip filled with laughter and storytelling.

Wilfred absolutely loved going to his bluegrass festival every year as well as countless agriculture fairs. He will be missed by all who knew him.

A Celebration of Wilfred’s Life will be held at Peace Valley Funeral Home in Fairview on Friday, December 19, 2025, at 1:00 PM.
